Well here is something that never happens. I read about Michelle's August Crusade yesterday, and I have a finished product to share today! As a twist on last month's challenge of creating new colors and naming them, this month we were to choose words or phrases and make colors to represent them. As I was reading about the challenge, I happened to be listening to a playlist on my iTunes that is a mix of songs from my life twelve years ago and songs in my life now. I chose four from each time that mean the most to me to create a 2-page layout of colors.I could put you to sleep with a long convo about colors, emotions and the psyche, but I don't think that was Michelle's intent...lol...i will say this, the one i struggled with at first, "Spoiled" turned out to be my favorite. I listed to each song and only gave myself its length to complete each color block--no time to over-think--
If you are familiar with any of these songs, I would love to hear what colors they make you think of!! How fun!
Happy art-ing to my fellow Crusaders and my paint party peeps!!
Maria

Great idea. I like them all. Just a kiss makes me thing of bright red. Can't take my eyes of you to me is green, just great idea. Thanks for sharing.
What a fun idea!!! I love your colors! Makes me want to try it! I like how you only gave yourself the duration of the song to paint each one! I'd like to hear your longer post about colors, emotions and the psyche, very interesting subject!!! Deb
I love these - really beautiful assortments of colours and songs. Must try that!
I always get inspired in art by music and words and "spoiled" is my favourite as well...."Marry Me a close second. Nice work.
These are WONDERFUL! I love them all but I think spoiled is my favorite.
Maria - I love these spreads! How fun that you took music from two periods in your life. I'm sure each list provoked different emotions while also influencing your color choices. I agree with Geckostone - would be fun to hear the report of your thought process...and so clever to only allow yourself the song's length to complete your mission. (That is a rule I use in some of my workshops!) Bravo for getting it done so quick. Thanks for sharing your process, your titles, and colors with the team! (I'm with you and Jane, love Spoiled too!)
Maria, you made me laff. I like the idea of a color for Spoiled! It made me think of that song, Stupid Girl. maybe I'll use THAT as a color name!
I like all these terms and the great way you made them come alive. Thanks for sharing!
What a cool idea! Very pretty :) I'm a little late with paint party friday, but stopped by to say hi!
What great pages! I love what you did with the song titles and colors! Very cool.
This is a great interpretation! Love your spread!
This is so cool! I particularly like 'just a kiss'. Next time, I'd love to hear all your thoughts :-)
Cool idea and great inspiration! Choosing a whole song and giving it a color opens up a door on the past and a palette on color. Can't wait to try this idea myself. love the photography, too--sort of oblique approach to it all!
seriously gorgeous spread! love the colors and the motivation behind your work. There is so much energy bouncing off the pages - you must have been truly inspired. thanks for sharing!
Luscious!! The way you blended these juicy colors together and gave them textures them is just awesome. I especially love "I will remember you" and I think that I would get purples and lavendars in my mind for that song, as well. And as for "have you ever really loved a woman" I definitely have stucco/terracotta come to mind, and that very much matches what you've done. I love your interpretations!
My favorite is spoiled! I also like breathe. The color seems perfect for that.
What a great interpretive idea! Just found this challenge blog and after visiting everyone, I'm ready to give it a try. Your loose style is so very cool!
